Finished or not?
I need your help, please...
I thought it was finished and was just about to take the honeysuckle out of the hoop, when I suddenly thought that perhaps it needed a bit of 'something' sprinkled over the background fabric...?

What do you think?

I like the clarity of the blank background so that the eye is quickly drawn to the delicate stamen of the honeysuckle or the delicacy of the wings of the bees. It's such a lovely design.
ReplyDeleteI like so much the plain one just like Lyrique comment. If you still want to do something else I would do the tiny gold not spangles!
ReplyDeleteThe embroidery is wonderful!
Your embroidery is beautiful. I like it very much. If you would like to add something more I would choose a scattering of the tiny gold spangles. They make me think of Elizabethan embroidery. Dianne
ReplyDeleteI agree with Anonymous: Your Honeysuckle is exquisite, but I believe the gold (either the stitches or the spangles) give it a bit of framing, make it pop and make it reminiscent of the Elizabethan era of embroidery. Can't wait to see what happens next!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you have been hanging around Susan O'Connor too much! I am so influenced by her too, and at first I was going to say I prefer the paillettes, but upon further consideration I think I like the plain background best. The stumpwork already gives the piece more dimension than traditional Elizabethan embroidery, so I would let it stand on its own.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great design!
I definitely like it with the sprinkle of gold - it adds a little more life, but isn't as overwhelming as the spangles. But I think the other comments show that you could go any way and everyone will still love it!
ReplyDeleteWow - thank you for all the feedback girls. Thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteIt is now all done... drumroll... will post a photo when it is mounted later today.
