Yellow or pink?

I'm stuck!

The majority of the small crewelwork design is done and I only the little bits of accent colour to do. The revised version is a little bit brighter than the original, a direction most of my work seems to be taking at the moment - happy colours. The accent colour of the original was a shaded crewel wool in a burnt yellow, which is nice, but I have a real 'thing' for watermelon pink and coral..... teal and watermelon are just so beautiful together. I am really, really tempted to give that a go. I can always pull it out and revert to the burnt yellow I guess. What do you think?

  1. I never thought I'd say this, but - pink!

  2. Both colors are lovely. I think that the rose doesn't look as pretty on my computer screen as it is in reality. Judging from my screen I would say the golden yellow.

  3. Go for the one YOU really want to use - it's your piece! There are no rules in art, right?=)

Personally, I'd choose the pink as, (as far as I can tell from the photo alone) it coordinates slightly better and provides a better contrast - needed in an accent colour, no?

  4. Definitely the pink. I think it coordinates much better with the blues.

  5. I think the yellow gives it more of a historical look, but the pink will make it a really warmly coloured piece. ... that doesn't really help, does it? The pink, I think. Go with the love.

  6. Yes, go for the watermelon, as long as you will use it more than once in the piece. It looks like it will be both the berries and fill in the grid on the flower. I disagree that the pink will make the piece warmer - I think actually the overall feel will be cooler without the yellow/orange. But, the cooler tones are more modern, too.

  7. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Guess what I am doing - it starts with 'p'...
